Past President Janet Mentink

Janet Mentink, RN, F.N.P, PhD.    
 July 25, 1937 to November 28, 2020

Janet had several careers including Nursing, Education and Stress Prevention Management. She spent 12 years in nursing at Woodland Memorial Hospital, predominantly ICU, CCU and Emergency Room. Janet was an Emeritus of the University of California-Davis School of Medicine, where she spent 24 years as faculty, working with family nurse practitioners and physician assistants, medical students and family practice residents.  The last ten years at the University of California-Davis, she directed the FNP/PA program. After retiring from UC Davis, she consulted and taught at the University of Washington Physician Assistant program where she worked with students, staff and faculty conducting ongoing workshops on communication, personality style, team building and leadership. Stress management work began with her PHD dissertation on stress in Family Practice Residency. In addition, she has used the Myers Briggs personality inventory with numerous groups and focused on stress management based on personality. During the 70's and 80's, she and a team conducted stress reduction groups at Escalon Institute for the health care professionals.

Janet served as President of the Sacramento City College Nursing Alumni from 2012 through 2016 and worked to strengthen the organization's connections with the college and increase membership.

Janet was a long-time resident of Davis, CA. where she lived with her husband of 52 years, Vic Mentink, retired Davis Police Chief, who died in 2017.
